The project
DEEP-X turns ten years of Watch Insanity into a watch with a radical Italian identity.
Created for Watch Insanity's tenth anniversary, DEEP-X is a fully Made in Italy limited edition of ten pieces. My role was to translate the publication's independent spirit into the visual language of the watch, shaping the dial, hands, indices, materials and details as a single coherent system.
From an editorial identity to a physical object
Watch Insanity wanted more than a commemorative watch: a professional diver able to express the curiosity, technical culture and freedom that have defined its first ten years.
The Grade 23 titanium case by Paradisi, water-resistant to 2,000 metres, and the hand-wound OISA 29-50 calibre established an uncompromising technical framework. The design had to give that architecture a clear, essential and recognisably Italian character.

Letting material become identity
I built the dial around forged carbon, allowing its irregular surface to become the main visual element. With no logo or text on the dial, proportion, light and texture become the signature of the watch.
Polished applied indices create a continuous circular rhythm, while sword-shaped hands and calibrated white Super-LumiNova preserve immediate legibility. One blue luminous index, matched to each limited-edition number, and a mother-of-pearl insert at 12 introduce details that reveal themselves gradually.
